Our Programs

There’s no reason that children in the richest country in the world should have to go without basic necessities like food, clean clothes, and hygiene products. At The Giving Closet Project, we work wholeheartedly in the following programs to fulfill local students’ basic needs and give them hope for a brighter future.

Care Packages for Kids

Our care packages provide clothing and basic needs assistance to students.

A student is referred by a teacher, case manager, social worker, counselor, or family liaison. Then, school personnel work with the family to get clothing sizes. Once we have that information, we’ll put together a care package that includes one month’s worth of hygiene products, a week’s worth of clothes, along with shoes and a backpack.

Care package requests are filled weekly and are either picked up or delivered to schools.

Launder with Love

All students deserve to attend school in clean clothes for a better school experience. To make this happen, we’ve partnered with local laundry facilities in Duval and Palm Beach Counties. Together, we have launched an innovative program that supports preK-12 homeless and low-income students with professional wash and fold laundry services right from their schools.

Food Locker Project

A full belly isn’t something that kids should have to worry about, yet many students come to school hungry every day. We’re making sure that homeless and low-income youth and their families have access to healthy and nutritious foods on a weekly basis. Lining up for food can be stressful, uncomfortable, and embarrassing. We help families maintain their dignity and eat healthy by offering an easy, discreet method that allows them to pick up food on their schedule.
