Launder With Love

Imagine an 8-year-old wanting to skip school only because their clothes are filthy and haven’t been washed in weeks or months. In Florida, there are over 72,000 identified homeless youth in Florida, without access to a washer and dryer.

What is it?

The GCP is partnering with local laundry facilities in Duval and Palm Beach Counties to launch an innovative program that will support preK-12 homeless and low-income students with professional wash and fold laundry services right from their schools. All students deserve to attend school in clean clothes for a better school experience.

Why Now?

  • Low-income students without access to clean clothes: miss more school, attend school wearing dirty clothes, and/or experience bullying
  • Access to washers/dryers in apartments is limited or non-existent
  • Laundromats and transportation to, are an added cost for already struggling low-income families
  • COVID-19 pandemic has been financially devastating for many low-income families
  • Germs, bacteria, and smell can be passed through soiled clothing.
  • Cleanliness in schools is now more important than ever before due to the coronavirus
