What an amazing day with Florida’s FIRST Genesys What an amazing day with Florida’s FIRST Genesys Works cohort of students from Duval County Public Schools. Today, our team had the opportunity to work closely with this dynamic group of students!

They volunteered their time filling care packages, organized & restocked our Children’s Boutique, had an amazing shopping experience of their own in our Teen & Career Wear Boutique, and participated in a “Own Your Experience: Turning Opportunity Into Impact” Lunch & Learn.

We cannot wait to see what this cohort accomplishes this year. The future is bright for these students, and Team GCP looks forward to being a part of this journey with Genesys Works Jax!

Meet Bob. Bob saw The Giving Closet Project on the Meet Bob.
Bob saw The Giving Closet Project on the news.
Bob turned to his wife and said, “Let’s help.”
Bob bought uniforms, sneakers, and essentials for local students.
Today, Bob dropped off a whole carload of donations.
Bob = local legend.
🧍‍♂️ Stick-Bob is proud.
🎉 Real Bob is even cooler.
🙌 Thank you so much, Bob & Mary, for jumping into action and giving back in such a generous way.
Be like Bob. (And Mary!)

👕📚 Clean uniforms, shoes that fit, and fresh 👕📚 Clean uniforms, shoes that fit, and fresh socks — they may seem like small things, but for many students, they’re the difference between attending school or staying home.
When youth and teens have what they need to feel comfortable and confident, they’re more likely to show up, stay focused, and thrive in the classroom.
📌 Most Title I schools in Duval and Palm Beach Counties require school uniforms. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, there are 75 Title I–eligible schools in Duval County alone. These schools serve a high percentage of students from low-income families and receive federal funding to support academic achievement — but the need for basic essentials like uniforms still remains.
🚨 Chronic absenteeism continues to be a major barrier to student success in both counties. Nearly 39% of students in Palm Beach County and 33% in Duval County miss 11 or more days of school — an alarming rate that qualifies as chronic absenteeism under state guidelines (Public News Service, 2024).
Right now, The Giving Closet Project is in urgent need of school uniforms to help students start the year strong. We’re especially short on youth sizes and essential items like polos, khaki bottoms, socks, and underwear.
You can help us remove a simple — yet critical — barrier to education. 📦🧺
🛒 You can help by donating directly through our Amazon Wishlist:
Every item donated removes a barrier to education and gives a student the chance to walk into school feeling prepared, proud, and supported. 💙
Thank you for standing with us and making a difference — one outfit at a time. #TheGivingClosetProject #BackToSchool #UniformDrive #SupportStudents #ConfidenceStartsHere #AmazonWishlist

June Recap: A Busy Start to Summer! 🌟 June was June Recap: A Busy Start to Summer! 🌟

June was full of energy, service, and impact at The Giving Closet Project!

✨ We welcomed incredible youth volunteers from 1122, hardworking VyStar volunteers and an amazing team from EverBank, who jumped right in to support our mission.
✨ Our GCP team rolled up their sleeves to help clean out and organize one of our remote Giving Closets.
✨ We had the honor of volunteering with the Chef Harvey Foundation to support their food giveaways—because community care takes a village.
✨ We also connected with our friends @psmjax1 through a tour of Presbyterian Social Ministries, exploring more ways to support students and families in need. Shoutout to Neil and the work he does for the community!

It’s been a powerful start to the summer—and we’re just getting started. 💪💛

👟 We’re out of sneakers — and we need your 👟 We’re out of sneakers — and we need your help.
Every Giving Closet care package includes a new or very gently used pair of youth sneakers — but right now, our shelves are nearly empty in most sizes.
This past school year, we replaced countless pairs of sneakers that were outgrown, falling apart, or held together by hope. Some students came to us with shoes two sizes too big… or none at all.
Having clean, well-fitting shoes is more than comfort — it’s dignity. It’s confidence. It’s a simple act of love.
💛 Help us restock before the new school year begins.
